What experience do forum members have of high flow nasal oxygen in ‘awake’ tracheostomies? I recently managed a case where I suggested use of THRIVE for a semi-elective ‘awake’ tracheostomy but the surgeons were concerned about the risk of airway fire with a high FiO2, despite not having an ETT in place.
